Polish fest to screen Iran’s ‘The Unseen’

The 60th Krakow Film Festival in Poland is to screen Iranian animation ‘The Unseen’.

Iranian animation ‘The Unseen’ has been selected to go on screen at the 60th edition of the Krakow Film Festival in Poland.

Directed by Behzad Nalbandi, the 61-minute documentary is about part of a beautification process where the local officials decide to round up unsavory characters such as drug addicts.

Men are usually released after a few days, but women are sent to a center on the outskirts of the city where social workers keep no records of the presence of these homeless women.

The use of animation allows Nalbandi to offer these unseen women a platform without exposing their identity.

‘The Unseen’ has gone on screen at some global events, including the 24th Busan International Film Festival in South Korea and the 37th Fajr International Film Festival in Iran.

The Krakow festival is one of the oldest events in the world that focuses on documentary, feature film and short film.

The eight-day festival is a chance for viewers to watch around 250 international films.

The 60th edition of the event will be held online from May 31 to June 5.
